Key areas of expertise: Virtualization, Cisco, Juniper, routers, switches, IP, MPLS, Ethernet switching, carrier technology.
Responsibilities: Responsible for designing & engineering new products & enhancements to existing products. Responsible for creation & ongoing development & support of the design & standards of the shared network infrastructure that support the MS and RS lines of business. The successful candidate will have expert-level capabilities in several areas, such as IT infrastructure design, networking, data center & IT automation, systems integration, virtualization, technical writing, capacity management & process improvement.
Responsibilities: -Own the network technology aspects of specific products under development w/in the organization, ensuring that product requirements are executed w/ a high level of technical excellence, demonstrable functional and technical quality, w/in the required timelines, & w/in budget -Bring successful products to market. After a product is launched, a primary measure of its success is its net income. Another measure could be based on customer research, such as product-specific customer satisfaction surveys. -Create architectural standards for the shared network infrastructure that supports various lines of business -Provide thought leadership w/ the organization & externally on topics related to network technology, IT automation, data security, information availability -Support the due diligence efforts for potential acquisition activity, focusing on products as well as network infrastructure, standards & tools -Communication of in-depth technical issues & other content to a varied audience, from individual contributors to managers & directors to executives -Bringing new ideas & change to a large organization -Designing & scoping solutions in a way that balances the required features w/ the appropriate costs to meet the market-based pricing of products -Managing multiple projects, of varying scope and size, each w/ aggressive deadlines -Working w/in a rapidly changing business environment while remaining focused on making the correct strategic & tactical decisions to grow the value of the company -Provides research and recommendations supporting $1M+ capex and opex business decisions -Develops services according to specifications established, with goal of creating solutions that appeal to a large amount of customers -Deliver solutions/services in agreed-upon timeframe, meeting applicable interim milestones.
Required Skills:
-Degree preferred -Minimum 10 years experience in network design & engineering -CCIE or JNCIE technical certifications or equivalent experience. -Proven ability to create & maintain complex network designs -Thorough understanding of all IT aspects of modern data centers -Expert working knowledge of IP network design & routing architectures. -Expert working knowledge in the operation of Ethernet LAN switching protocols & standards including VLANs, VLAN aggregation, Ether Channel, PVLANs, Spanning Tree & Rapid Spanning Tree, 802.1Q, 802.1e, & CAT 5 & fiber cable distribution systems. -Expert knowledge of networking & routing protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP4, OSPF, RIP, IS-IS, MPLS, VPLS, RSVP, LDP, etc. -Expert working knowledge in the operation of protocol analyzers, packet testers, debugging and circuit test equipment. -Strong communication and presentation skills -Strong technical writing skills -Knowledge of IT and data center automation concepts -Ability to analyze and improve IT process -Knowledge of capacity management issues -Strong commitment to customer service. -Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills. -Strong process development skills. -Ability to effectively work in a team environment as well as independently.
Preferred: -Minimum 5 years experience in a service provider environment -Knowledge of Unix and Microsoft operating systems. -Knowledge of SAN switches and storage arrays -Basic knowledge of shell scripting and programming languages such as Perl and Python. -Expert working knowledge of network security systems, intrusion detection systems and protocols including, SecurID, TACACS, IPSEC, IKE, etc. -Expert working knowledge in transport technologies such as TDM, SONET, DWDM and circuit emulation. -Expert skills in the configuration of Cisco and Juniper routers and LAN switches
